Onward Is The Fantasy Pixar Movie You’ve Been Waiting For

Elf brothers from Onward

From creators of The Incredibles, Coco, and Toy Story comes Onward, Pixar’s latest fantastical gem. The movie poster and trailer were tweeted just earlier today by their official Twitter account:

In times of old, the world was magical…but times change. Watch the new trailer for #PixarOnward and see the film when it cometh to theaters March 2020. pic.twitter.com/zbm2StdrFS

There’s quite a lot to unpack in the trailer. It takes place in a modern-fantasy setting in which dwarves, elves, mermaids, and a myriad of other magical creatures- save for pesky, riffraff unicorns- live in harmony. The creatures function not too unlike the average 21st century person. Mermaids chill by the poolside, pegasus compete with planes, and garden gnomes mow lawns.

The film’s premise is based on two teenaged elf brothers who end up going on a journey to complete a “really fast and strange errand”. According to Dan Scanlon, the film’s director, the two elf brothers “go out on an adventure to see if there’s a little magic left in that world.”

The animated film features a star-studded voice acting roster, with Tom Holland, Chris Pratt, Octavia Spencer, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus each voicing a main character. With all of this taken into consideration, there’s no question Onward is the animated to watch out for this 2020.

Onward comes to theaters next March. Don’t forget to stay posted for updates!
