“Makes Me Vomit,” Hollywood Actor Displeased With New Oscars Requirements

Select celebrity actors have seen the slow burn of Hollywood going from a seedy entertainment medium to one that’s gone above and beyond to push more and more requirements and societal standards to make itself look better in the eyes of the inclusion-obsessed crowd.

Richard Dreyfuss, best known for his co-starring role in Jaws, was invited onto PBS’ Firing Line earlier this month, where he revealed his thoughts on the new requirements that the Oscars are putting in place for the “Best Picture” category starting next year.

Chief among these requirements include demanding at least one lead role is played by a member of a minority group, 30% of its general crew are part of at least two minorities, whether that’s the crew being women, disabled, part of the LGBTQ, or otherwise, or the film “must concern one of those groups.”

When asked about his opinion, the award-winning actor said that the rules “makes me vomit.” He then clarified that he doesn’t believe he should be forced to conform to the new standards of “morality” and that no group should be catered to.

Dreyfuss went on to defend Laurence Olivier’s starring role in the film adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello in 1965. He expressed how art is art and that we’re treating people “like children.”
